eKYC links each worker’s identity to Aadhaar so that attendance and payments go to the right person. There has been a lot of confusion – and some rumours that cards without eKYC will be cancelled.
Is eKYC compulsory to get work?
No. In August 2026 the Centre clarified that eKYC is not a condition for getting work, and nobody should be turned away from a worksite because their eKYC is pending. It is still worth completing, because it reduces payment problems.
How eKYC is done
- Visit your Gram Panchayat or the Gram Rozgar Sevak.
- Carry your job card and Aadhaar card.
- The official completes the eKYC through the departmental app, usually with face or fingerprint authentication.
- Check a few days later that your status has been updated.
eKYC is free. Do not pay a cyber café or an agent for it.
Before you go
- Make sure the name on Aadhaar matches the name on the job card. If they differ, get the job card corrected first.
- Keep the bank account that receives your wages active and linked to Aadhaar.
- Never share an OTP with someone who calls claiming to be from the panchayat or the bank.
“E-KYC Done” and “ABPS Enabled” on your card
The new Gramin Rozgar Guarantee Card shows two columns for every household member: E-KYC Done (identity verified against Aadhaar) and ABPS Enabled (wages can be paid to the Aadhaar-linked account). Check your card via MIS Report → R1 → Job Card/Employment Register. If ABPS says “No”, ask your bank to seed your Aadhaar and complete NPCI mapping.
